Getting around the city

Athens has an extensive network of buses and trolleys.
Trolleys operate from 5 am until midnight, while buses operate for 24 hours.
Tickets cost €0.45, one way. These can be purchased from transportation and ordinary kiosks. However, all the things that Athens offers to its visitors are within walking distance from the city centre, thus catching a bus or a trolley is not necessary.

Metro/Subway

The metro is a reliable and regular service. There are three lines that serve the city centre and the suburbs of Athens, with the central station located in Syntagma Square, Athens' central square.
A single-journey ticket costs €0.70 and can be purchased from the transport kiosks. Daily and weekly travel-passes are also available for €2.90 and €10, respectively.
Line 1 (ISAP) operates between the hours of 05.00-00.30 every day, Lines 2 and 3 (METRO) operate between 05.30-24.00.
Tickets are bought through Automatic Ticket Issuing Machines (ATIM) installed in all METRO stations or from Ticket Offices.
